Nude photos of our Apostle on Internet is blackmail — C&S Church

LAGOS—The Holy Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, has said the nude photo of their District Chairman, Idimu sub headquarters, Lagos State, Apostle Timothy Adewoye, which went viral recently on the Internet, was meant to blackmail the Apostle.

Senior Apostle Abimbola Esuola, who briefed newsmen in Lagos, said  the 80‑year‑old man was attacked by four men who stripped him naked, took his nude photos in the home of one of a female church member whom he went to pray for.

His attackers were said to have demanded N10 million from him and threatened to publish his nude photos on the Internet if he did not cooperate. Esuola added that the octogenarian, after pressure, paid N2.150 million to the blackmailers who kept on asking for more.  According to her, “when the pressure became unbearable, Adewoye told his secretary what he was passing through and the secretary mobilised other members of the church and reported the matter at Idimu police station. The police already had a case against a female church member identified as Sherifat Balogun. The suspects were said to have also blackmailed a prominent banker the same way.

When the detectives went to pick up the suspects, three of them, including Balogun’s husband fled. They are yet to be apprehended and only Sherifat Balogun and Makanjuola Olagunja were arrested.”

Charged to court
The police, yesterday, filed charges against  Balogun and Olagunja in suit No. MM/E/7/2014. Olagunja, 50, and Balogun, 54, both of Akowonjo area of Lagos State, are facing a six‑count charge of conspiracy, assault, threatening violence, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing. The Ejigbo magistrate’s court in Lagos State, where the case is being heard, remanded Balogun and Olagunja in prison for blackmail.
The prosecutor, ASP Nicholas Atumonye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 13, 2013 at 11, Shagari Estate, Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos State.

Atumonye said the accused conspired with others now at large to assault one Prophet Adewoye by forcefully pulling off his clothes and taking nude photographs of him. He said the accused threatened to publish the nude pictures of the prophet and unlawfully obtained N2.150 million from him to prevent the publication of the pictures. The prosecutor said the accused also threatened the life of their victim by making several phone calls demanding for money.

He said the offences contravened Sections 56, 170, 285, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Section 312 stipulates 15 years imprisonment for convicted offenders. The accused, however, denied the charges. The prosecutor objected to bail for the accused on the grounds that several members of their gang had not been arrested. The Magistrate, Mrs. M.B. Folami, adjourned the case till February 14 to consider the request of the accused for bail.

Keshi confirms Imoh Ezekiel is ready to represent Nigeria

Stephen Keshi has revealed that he has held discussions with Standard Liege’s striker Imoh Ezekiel and he is keen to play for the Super Eagles.
The coach of the Nigerian senior team, was speaking from his base in the USA on Monday, where he debunked the rumours that Ezekiel was still interested in playing for Belgium.
“I have been in constant touch with him and he has assured me that he will be available for us and we hope that he will do well for the country.”
The 20-year-old is among the players Keshi has invited for the friendly match against Mexico on March 5 in Atlanta, US.

Imoh Ezekiel wants to play for Nigeria, says Gafar

The Representative of the sensational young striker says his loyalty still remains with Nigeria and is totally committed to playing for his country of birth
Gafar Liameed, chairman of 36 Lion FC of Lagos, has said Standard Liege striker Imoh Ezekiel is geared up to wear the green and white colours of the Nigeria senior national team.

The former 36 Lion striker is one of three fresh invites on the 23-man list of coach Stephen Keshi to prosecute the March 5 international friendly against Mexico in Atlanta, USA.

Gafar, who is the representative of the 20-year-old striker in a chat with Goal, said that Ezekiel, despite increasing interest from the Belgium senior national team, still craves to play for Nigeria.

On reports that the prodigious talent is considering dumping Nigeria to play for the Red Devils, he refuted the media claims on the player’s plans to switch allegiance, hinting that the move is no longer in place.

“Imoh is ready to play for Nigeria. He might have been ached by several snubs at junior international level but with this invitation, he is ready to play for his country of birth. Those reports are speculations as he is yet to agree to play for Belgium,” Gafar told Goal.

The Standard Liege forward was quoted on the 36 Lion’s official Facebook page as saying: “Never in my life would I have thought of such a call to the Super Eagles at such a time, with great players and the achievements of the present national team. I never saw myself in the team anytime soon."

According to Gafar, “Imoh is indeed grateful to the Super Eagles’ head coach Stephen Keshi and Nigeria Football Federation for the exciting privilege and promises to give more than 110% if given a chance to play even if it is for one minute.”

“If Nigerians allowed me remove subsidy, $20billion won’t be missing” – Jonathan

During the presidential media chat on Monday, President Goodluck Jonathan insisted that if Nigerians had allowed him to remove oil subsidy, all the stories of missing money in the NNPC wouldn’t have come up.

Nigerians took to the streets in January 2012, to protest government decision to end billions of dollars in fuel subsidies that saw the price of fuel double overnight. A compromise was later reached between the striking parties and the government.
“I was involved in kerosene subsidy as Vice President to Yar’Adua. Kerosene subsidy was never removed,” he said.
“If I had been allowed to remove oil subsidy all the stories of money missing won’t be coming up.”
On Sanusi’s whistle-blowing, Jonathan said: “Sanusi said its $49billion, then $1 2billion and now $20billion, I don’t know which to believe, we must look into it, even if its $1.”

Why President Jonathan Wants My Head –– Mallam Sanusi Tells His Story

Did you know that President Goodluck Jonathan who is accusing Sanusi Lamido of acts of financial reckless is in actually fact angry because Sanusi refused to spend $2billion for gadgets for him in Aso Rock? Well, that is one of the "sins" of the CBN governor. Because he gave money, from what he has able to make through his diligent work, to some universities and bomb blast victims, the Presidency got angry.
During the tenure of Charles Soludo, the highest money CBN ever gave the federal government was N8bn but today Sanusi has given the same government over N600billion. Why didn't they ask him how he was able to make so much money in the CBN when others could not? That is the sad reality in Nigeria today.
Read Sanusi's story below as stated by Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi himself...

My story, by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
As at the time I came into office, several things had collapsed. From banks to stock exchange, they had crashed. Inflation was at 15.6percent three months before I became Central Bank Governor; there was already instability in every sector of the economy. When I look back, I thank God for the people who supported us and criticized us as well because criticism has made us stronger. Also, when I look back, I can point to several things that have changed after our arrival and till date.
Keeping inflation down
For the first time in a long while, we have been able to keep inflation at about 7percent since January 2013 and it is still like that up till this moment. As far as instability and exchange rate is concerned, we have worked tirelessly to ensure things work out well for the economy.
We also introduced cash reduction in the system. Although most people didn’t like it because they felt it will add more problem to the exchange rate because people want to buy dollars but against all odds, the cashless policy has worked and it’s still working today.
On the face-off between CBN and NNPC
I must say that we are not EFCC. What I have been talking about is the areas that affect my job which have been a dwindling in the money that comes into the Federation Account. Let me make it clear, the disputed $20billion may be gone. And what some people want is the continuity of this; that stealing of public funds should continue.

On his suspension
I must say that there was no time when the CBN received any letter from the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. At no point were we given any letter to respond to over any financial allegations. Also, nothing in the letter declared that I did anything wrong. I can tell you that CBN does not operate the way it’s been presented because all facts and statements of account are there for everybody to see. They said we spent N1.2billion on the police – even if that is true, is that corruption? Did I set up my security outfit and pay myself? I want to repeat that I have had my last day in office. I have achieved everything I set out to achieve. Looking at the suspension letter, I was not given the benefit of doubt to respond or explain myself.

Court order
However, I have a court order now enforcing my fundamental human right because once they seize your passport, you don’t know the next step they will take. I took an expert motion to court to ensure I am not harassed.

On the allegation that he is partisan
When I was in King’s College, I was in Form 2 when Bukola Saraki came into Form 1. He has been my friend since we were 11years old. Also, El-Rufai has been my friend. I never knew I will be CBN Governor because I had wanted to study law, also Bukola Saraki never knew he would become a politician because he read medicine. These people remain my friends and, with all sincerity, every one of us has friends across political divides. These are things some Nigerians categorize and accuse me of being a politician. Also, I had known Governor Fashola and Bola Tinubu since I was in First Bank. I am a Lagos boy as well and my children were all given birth to and groomed in Lagos. When Nasir El- Rufai heard what happened, he decided to come to the Lagos airport so that if I am going to be arrested, it will be in the company of some of my friends. He never came to the airport as an APC member but as a friend. I am not a politician.

What next on NNPC
It is not my responsibility anymore but I can comment as a Nigerian. I can talk if I feel like. I believe nobody will challenge me that I did not speak out when I was supposed to as CBN Governor. If the next CBN Governor wants to pursue the missing funds matter or the National Assembly wants to go ahead, they are free of do so. Can you imagine a sitting Minister on national television saying they spent money without appropriation. In any other country, such minister has sacked herself. To me, that is not financial recklessness.

Let me simply ask, if the Nigerian Constitution says don’t spend money without appropriation or says don’t pay subsidy and the Minister went ahead to pay, is it not a problem? Technical problem is what we deal with at CBN, we deal with CRR and other issues.

In this kind of situation of investigation going on, you are supposed to either keep quiet as a wise man or walk away. But as you can see, I am not a wise man.

Donation of 100million
It is called principle of donation. During the Ikeja bomb blast explosion, the CBN Governor then, Joseph Sanusi, gave N10million. So I was not the first person to do that. This is contained under Corporate Social Responsibility. The blast in Kano did not affect Kano citizens alone, SSS offices, police stations were attacked and these are federal offices which have several people from the South working there. I can tell you that 80percent of the victims of that bomb attack are not Kano citizens, there were several Christians from the South involved and I gave N100million to their families. What is bad in that? Why are people not complaining about the N500million I compelled the Bankers Committee to give to flood victims in Benue State and other places? What is wrong in it? With CSR, you cannot do everything in all the 36states of the federation; you will do the little you can.

Mint printing!
This is one area that we have been able to cut down on spending. In 2012, CBN spent N38billion on mint printing down from the N49billion spent in 2011. In 2013, we spent N35billion and, in my 2014 budget, my plan was to spend N30billion. So we have been bringing down the cost of printing.

Under the Fiscal Responsibility Act of the CBN, we contribute 80 percent into the Federation Account. In 2008 before I became Governor, CBN contributed N8billion into the Federation Account. In my last year, CBN gave N159billion. In 2012, we gave N80billion, in 2011, we gave N60billion. In the first four years of my term as CBN Governor, we gave government about N279billion. The National Assembly called to commend me.

We have been able to give N600billion from surplus alone and the money is made from prudent finance, cutting down currency expenses, every over headline has gone down. So I can say, with all sense of humility, that the last thing anybody can accuse me of his financial recklessness.

The Arowolos' Tragedy: How Titilayo Omozese Was Murded By Her Husband

Justice was prevailed on Feb 21 after the court sentenced Akolade Arowolo to death for killing his wife but many are still wondering and asking 'what happened that very day?, how did it happened?, why did he do it?....The Arowolos’ tragedy was one that generated so much out-cry from the public. When the news of the savage attack on the Titilayo broke on 24 June 2011, The Elites reporter had visited the Arowolos’ residence, to speak with some of their neighbors and officers of the Aswani Police Station....
Interestingly too, the first time Arowolo was paraded by the Nigerian police, his face betrayed no hint of the savagery he had been accused of. He even appeared with a bible. His hands, however, bore suggestions of involvement in some sort of violence.
The left hand was plastered. So was the region below his right elbow. Arowolo’s explanation for the wounds was that his wife had stabbed him–and then stabbed herself.

“The woman was possessed that day and while we were quarreling, she went into the kitchen and brought out a knife, with which she overpowered me and then began to stab me all over my body and head. The next thing I saw, she started stabbing herself repeatedly with the knife while telling me that she was tired of the marriage and that since I did not want to let her go, she would kill me and then kill herself,” Arowolo claimed.

This version of events is not popular with his in-laws and many of those familiar with the couple. Those familiar with Arowolo and his wife, Titilayo, said their marriage was a strife-driven one.
And on a regular basis, Arowolo battered his wife. Arowolo admitted that the marriage was a tempestuous one.
“We have been having issues since the day we got married, so much so that I contemplated divorcing her. But because I am a spiritual person and a pastor, I decided to manage. I am now regretting that decision because I should have been bold enough to divorce her and then face the consequences instead of this mess I have found myself,” he added.

Arowolo claimed he did not plan to marry Titilayo. According to him, he had planned to marry another person he was dating at the same time.
Titilayo, he claimed, got pregnant and her family pressured them into marriage. His claims hardly fit the profile of a spiritual man.
Titilayo, a 2006 History and International Relations graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, worked with Skye Bank plc. She was said to be the family’s breadwinner and paid N1.3 million for the flat they lived in, as the husband had not worked for about two of the three years they were married.
For Titilayo, the day, June 24, was incidentally her husband’s birthday and the beginning of her annual leave. She left their home at 8 Dr. Akindehinde Street, Aswani Estate, Isolo, Lagos, for her office.
Titilayo was in the office to collect her leave grant, which was said to be N250,000. About two hours later, she returned home and was said to have explained to her husband that the money had been paid into her account, but she would have to wait till the following week before she could withdraw it.
What set off the dispute that claimed her life remains unclear, but sources disclosed that Arowolo, who once worked with an audit firm, depended solely on his wife for money and usually insisted that the wife met his demand.
It was also gathered that after Arowolo allegedly killed his wife, he fled their apartment and drove away in his wife’s car, a green Honda Accord 1996 model, with registration number Lagos RK 129 KJ.
He was said to have driven at a crazy speed. But as Arowolo approached Aye Bus Stop, some policemen stopped him and ordered him out of the car. When they saw blood stains on him, they thought that he was involved in an accident. But when they started asking him questions, said police sources, Arowolo feigned weakness and slumped.
As the policemen and onlookers made efforts to revive him, he got up, jumped on a coming motorcycle, which sped off. The policemen took the car to their station.
A close observation revealed that the door at the driver’s side had a dent while the right headlamp was broken.
Officers at the Aswani Police Station disclosed that it was not until the day after Arowolo’s car was impounded that the station was alerted of the murder that had taken place a few streets away.
Police officers informed the reporter that after Arowolo escaped at Aye Bus Stop, he went to one of his father’s friends in Ejigbo and reported that he had a fight with his wife.
His father was then informed of the incident. The family then decided to send a delegation to Arowolo’s house to check on Titilayo. When members of the delegation got to the apartment, they discovered that the door was locked. But with the help of the neighbours, they broke the door and found Titilayo’s body with multiple stab wounds.
“Titilayo was stabbed severally in her face, chest and neck. I couldn’t even bring myself to look at the pictures the other neighbours took with their phones,” said a neighbour.

Arowolo’s father, Mudashiru, was then arrested and detained at the Aswani Police Station. Three days later, his relatives brought Arowolo to the station. He was detained for a few days, after which he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti. Dr. Akindehinde Street is quite popular within Isolo community.
It houses Holy Saviour’s College, a notable secondary school as well as Saviour’s Gospel Ministry, a popular church. The Arowolos lived on No 8, a three storey building which is described as the newest and the most beautiful on that street.
The building has 24 flats. The Arowolos, who were said to have moved in eight months before the tragic incident, occupied the back flat on the last floor.
One of the neigbours who claimed to know the couple described their marriage as being very chaotic.
“They quarreled a lot. It was obvious that the man never loved his wife because he was always beating her.
A few months ago, he beat her so much that she had to leave her matrimonial home. But she came back after family members intervened and pleaded with her to come back”, he said.
Another neighbour, who runs a barbing salon opposite the Arowolos’ house, claimed to have interacted closely with Arowolo, described him as strange.
“He was always at home. Once, when he came to my shop, I asked what he did for a living and he said he was an auditor. I asked him where his office was and he told me he ran his business from home. I had no reason to doubt him because he claimed to be a born-again Christian,” he said.
A mate of his at Federal Government College, Ijanikin, said he once attempted to kill himself by drinking bleach. If he actually killed his wife, what could have sparked such a murderous reaction?
Arowolo, on the evidence of his Facebook page (it was later shut down), is a religious man. His status updates regularly displayed quotations from the Bible.
Those who knew him as an undergraduate at the University of Lagos said he was heavily involved in church activities and was elected hall pastor in his final year.
Arowolo served as a pastor in the children’s department at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. But the family of Titilayo claimed that Arowolo might have murdered his wife for ritual purposes.
Speaking through its lawyer, Nelson Ekoh, the family alleged that one of Titilayo’s internal organs was found at the scene of the incident. Ekoh claimed that the deceased was stabbed more than 20 times.
“Arowolo used two knives and a hammer to kill Titilayo. One knife broke in her neck, while the other one was left near her corpse. I believe he pinned her down to the floor and stabbed her to death after which he took out some of her internal organs.
I suspect that he wanted to use Titilayo for a ritual. An internal organ was found on the floor, her eyes almost gouged out and there are so many stab wounds on her body,” he said.
A family source, who claimed to be the younger sister of Titilayo’s stepmother, said the family is determined to fight for justice.
The late Titilayo, who left behind a daughter, Olamide, became motherless at the age of nine. She was raised by her step-mother, Bisi and father, George Oyakhire, a senior employee of the Nigeria Customs Service.
Close friends of Titilayo described her as very gentle and kind. One of them disclosed that the late banker always expressed her frustration with her marriage to Arowolo.
“Few months before her death, Titilayo complained that she was tired of being beaten by her husband. A few weeks before she died, they fought over Arowolo’s decision to sell her car without her permission.
He beat her up. This caused her to move out of the house. But Arowolo came begging and asked her to come back home. The matter was resolved but Titilayo’s father pleaded with her not to go back yet,” she said. The remains of the late banker were later interred at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, amidst tears and sorrow

Saeon gushes about her relationship with Uti, says they are in love

Singer Seun Oni aka Saeon has spoken for the first time about her relationship with Uti Nwachukwu. She says they are in love and it's no publicity stunt.
"I don’t like to put my personal business out there. I have known Uti for a while and he was in my only video. I met him prior to shooting the video because he helped me to bring some of the things I used in the video from England. We started talking, hanging out and then this. We are in love and he is a very honest person and also genuine. People would always say things about him which obviously are not true but that would not stop him from being him. He is God-fearing, very funny and of course, good-looking. This affair is no publicity stunt; even though I know Uti is a big brand and I am only an emerging brand." Saeon tells Punch

Priest admits sexually abusing children

An 85-year-old Catholic priest has pleaded guilty to a series of child-related sex offences after being extradited from Tenerife.

In a hearing at Derby Crown Court, Francis Paul Cullen admitted 21 counts of indecent assault on seven children, BBC reports.

The abuse of boys and girls aged six to 16 took place from 1957 to 1991. Cullen, born in Dublin, worked in Scunthorpe, Leicester, Nottingham and Alfreton, Buxton and Mackworth, Derbyshire. A spokesman for the Diocese of Nottingham said he was pleased Cullen had “taken responsibility for his terrible crimes”.
Cullen was first arrested in Nottingham in 1991, but he skipped bail and fled to Tenerife in Spain where he lived for more than 20 years. Cullen will be sentenced on 24 March.

Father Andrew Cole, spokesman for the Diocese of Nottingham, said, “I would like to offer our sympathy to those who have been affected by this tragedy in any way and assure them that we will do whatever we can to support them. “I also wish to thank Cullen’s victims for their bravery in coming forward after many years of silence; it is due to them that Cullen has pleaded guilty. “Nothing can take away the horror of what happened to them, but I hope that today’s verdict will help them in some small way to find peace.”

Derbyshire Police urged any other victims who have not yet come forward to contact them.
“Given the length of the offending history of this investigation, which lasted from 1955 to 1991, I believe it is inconceivable that there are not more victims of this man’s crimes,” Det Con Matt Goodwin said.
Cullen worked as a priest at the Mackworth parish of Christ the King in Derbyshire between 1960 and 1978.
He was parish priest in Buxton from 1978-87 and in Hyson Green, Nottingham from 1988-91.
He retired in September 1991.

Marriage May Be Good for Your Blood Pressure

Being married may be good for your blood pressure.
In a new study published in The Journal of Hypertension, researchers at Harvard Medical School looked at 325 adults who were followed over two years as part of a randomized controlled trial. The subjects, about half of whom were married, were assigned to follow strict diets and wear devices that monitored their blood pressure throughout the day.
Blood pressure levels generally follow a daily pattern, rising throughout the day and then falling at night. A nightly dip of at least 10 percent in systolic pressure — the top number in a blood pressure reading — is considered normal, said Dr. Finnian R. McCausland, a study author, whereas lack of such a dip is associated with cardiovascular problems and higher mortality.
People who were married — especially men – were much more likely to exhibit this “nocturnal dipping” than those who were not married, the researchers found, even after taking into account factors like socioeconomic status, age, diet and body mass index.
The researchers speculate that marriage might provide a level of social support that leads people to better manage their health and stress levels. Or, they wrote, “being married may simply be a marker for those with better overall health status, nutritional status and psychiatric wellness.”

Gunmen abduct Jonathan’s foster father

THERE was pandemonium on Sunday night in President Goodluck Jonathan’s Otuoke community in Ogbia Local Council Area of Bayelsa State as suspected gunmen abducted his 70 year-old foster father, Chief Inengite Nitabai.
Nitabai, who is the President’s cousin, was kidnapped at about 9pm from his compound located before Otuoke Bridge, off Otu-Okpoti-Ogbia Road.
However, the police yesterday said one of the suspects has been arrested over the crime.
According to security operatives, the bandits numbering about 10 invaded the community on Sunday.
The abducted chief, according to source, was described as the traditional head of the President Jonathan’s compound. And his residence is few metres away from the President’s house.
The victim’s wife’s sister, Akinobebh Jin, said Nitabai’s son first sighted the bandits and raised the alarm, saying: “We came back from somewhere around 8pm. Silas was at the veranda doing his assignment while my in-law, my sister and two other siblings were in the living room together. Then after, Silas came shouting and saying that some people had just entered into the compound. As we sprang on our feet, we were confused because we didn’t know where to run to”.
A source at the Joint Military Task Force code named Operation Pulo Shield claimed the incident occurred at about 9pm and that the armed men used the private vehicle of the abducted man. The vehicle was later recovered at Onuebum community waterfront.
He added: “The Deputy Commander of the JTF, Commodore Ime Ekpa and a team of security agents have visited the location to assess the crime scene and investigation is in progress to unmask the kidnappers and rescue the victim”
Also, spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, who denied knowledge of any close family affiliation of the abducted chief with the President, said preliminary report available has identified the kidnappers and one suspect was in police custody.
Akhigbe said the police report showed that the abducted community leader had made a report at the Kolo Police Station on the illegal sale of his land by some unidentified persons.
He added: “After it was discovered, the abducted man insisted that the culprits refund the buyer his money and leave his land alone. He was later kidnapped.
“We have identified those involved and are on their trail. One of the suspects is in our custody. The vehicle also has been recovered. I cannot establish the relationship between the abducted chief and the President.”
