‘Obesere Raped Me And Inserted A Ring In My Private Part’— Alleged Rape Victim Insists

Ms Olanike Olaiya, a 29-year-old business woman who had lodged a rape complaint against popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande (popularly known as Obesere), has insisted that the musician did forcefully take advantage of her in his home. Obesere was granted bail from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti in Yaba, Lagos last week and has insisted that he only had consensual sex with Ms Olaiya and that the woman ran to the police just to extort money from him.
The musician insists he was involved in an affair with the woman and that whatever happened that night behind closed doors between them both, had the seal of approval of two consenting adults.
Speaking with the Vanguard however, Ms Olaiya said Obesere did rape her and expressed frustration with the way the matter was handled at Panti by the police. She says the Investigating Police Officer at Panti was hell bent on destroying the case in favor of the Fuji crooner.
“I knew him barely two weeks ago and we were talking business. But he raped me on our first meeting in his house”, she said. Obesere had corroborated this part of the story when he said he got to know the lady through a mutual female friend and business partner. He also said the mutual female friend in question had confessed to him that Ms Olaiya and herself had hatched a plan to blackmail him, eventhough she hadn’t bought the idea which was first mooted by the alleged ‘victim’.
“Like I told you earlier, I met him through a friend who is much older than me — she is over 49 years old— and she told me that Obesere helped her in her business and he could do same for me”, Ms Olaiya continued.
“She was the one who arranged the meeting at Obesere’s house, but Obesere made me wait for at least five hours until it became late for me to go after the meeting.
“Even when I insisted, he refused to let me go claiming his area was not safe and that everybody knew I was in his house.
“I slept over, but not in his room. He raped me and inserted a ring in my private part. I wouldn’t have gone to the Police if it was just the rape because it was my fault. As an adult, I should have known the danger of passing the night in a stranger’s house”.
She said the insertion of the ring must have been done for ritual purposes and rejected claims that she wanted to blackmail the Fuji crooner.
“I went to the police because I was bleeding and when I informed him about it, he didn’t take me seriously. He asked me to go to a private hospital in Ejigbo. But when I got there, the doctor did not even touch or examine me in any way.
“He just asked that I go for a scan, which is not done in that hospital. I left the hospital in pain and I reported the matter to the police.
“I wanted the police to be aware of what happened and prosecute him for forcefully having sex with me against my wish.
“I also have to clarify the issue of wanting to blackmail him. From the beginning, I rejected all the money he offered me as settlement.
“You can ask the DPO at Isolo. He is aware that I rejected all the money he offered me. All I wanted was for him to be prosecuted for taking advantage of me because I slept in his house.
“Also, I wanted him to explain to the Police why he inserted a ring into my private part that made me bleed for two weeks and possibly reverse any ritual step he may have taken”, Ms Olaiya said.
Obesere, legally married to another woman, had said his wife understands his extra-marital trysts given his profession.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Are All Over Each Other in Sexy New Dance Video

Sometimes there are no words to explain a certain situation, so Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have turned to interpretive dance.

The pop singer shared two Instagram videos of him and his former (and maybe once again?) girlfriend doing a sexy routine to John Legend's "Ordinary People." In the clips, the stars get very up close and personal, in what ends up being 30 seconds of sexy, emotional and intense interaction between two young people in love
It's unclear whether the videos are from today (although we can see Bieber's cross tattooon his chest so we know it's recent), but the timing is pretty impeccable. Their routine comes on the heels of reports that the pair has reunited, and possibly rekindled their romance.
Their song choice is also spot on. Legend's 2005 track from his album Get Lifted is all about the ups and downs of a relationship.
"Girl I'm in love with you/ This ain't the honeymoon/ Past the infatuation phase/ Right in the thick of love/ At times we get sick of love/ It seems like we argue everyday," the song begins.
"I know I misbehaved/ And you made your mistakes/ And we both still got room left to grow/ And though love sometimes hurts/I still put you first/ And we'll make this thing work/ But I think we should take it slow."
Bieber joined Gomez in Texas (where she had performances lined up over the weekend) on Friday and the duo were spotted kissing over breakfast in McAllen before browsing around a couple of stores and prompting a crush of fans to show up for a peek.
Justin then gave a surprise performance at the 2014 SXSW Festival in Austin on Sunday, during which he dedicated "As Long as You Love Me" to his "baby girl" while Gomez reportedly watched from backstage. J.B. is scheduled to appear in Miami tomorrow for a court hearing.
Could this be their response to everyone's questions about what's going on between them? Let us know in the comments!

Kerosene the Forgotten Scarcity

SCARCITY of kerosene has become a part of the daily challenges many Nigerians face. Unfortunately, their sufferings in sourcing kerosene, a fundamental cooking energy for a majority of Nigerian families do not enjoy the sort of prominence that a day’s shortage of petrol does.

Low income earning Nigerians bear the brunt of the scarcity. They use kerosene for cooking and lighting up their homes. Their daily toils with providing food for the family endures the additional challenge of getting kerosene, one of the numerous by-products of the crude oil we produce.
The official price of kerosene is fixed at N50 per litre. Kerosene is never available at that price. Across the country, kerosene costs as much as N170 per litre. In most instances, availability is the bigger issue.
Scarcity of kerosene is attributed to diversion of the product by some marketers. Sharp practices by middlemen are other reasons for the high price of kerosene. Obviously the supply of the product is inadequate. It is the primary cause of the high cost of kerosene. DPR has to deal with the sharp practices. It has the means to detect marketers who divert products. What it lacks is the will to punish them, which is why the sharp practices thrive.

If government cared about ameliorating the sufferings of the poor, it would not watch as the little people eke out is expended on inefficient and expensive fuels like kerosene. Over the years, availability and affordability of kerosene has posed challenges to users but government did not care.
Government usually claims it subsidises kerosene. Where is the subsidy if the product is sold at more than three times the official price? Many homes need kerosene. They are not getting attention for their pain because they are poor, including rural Nigerians, who their governments ignore their voices. What have their representatives at the National Assembly done about this recurring national burden on the poor, who are already over-burdened?

It is important to look beyond the immediate solution of liberalising kerosene importation to make room for other importers and marketers to join the business. The key to lower prices of kerosene, like fuel, lies in domestic refining of kerosene.

Government should be concerned enough about the plight of its people to act. In the longer term, other energy sources like gas, should be promoted as the alternative to kerosene.

Nollywood Actor Van Vicker Denies He Was The One Who Broke Chika Ike’s Marriage

In this latest interview with Nigerian Tribune’s Joan Bajojo Omionawele, Ghanaian actor Van Vicker talked at length about his life as an actor, his marital journey with his wife Adjoa. He also took his time to address  his rumoured affair with Chika Ike.

Interview Excerpt:

You are known for your lover boy roles. Where did you get your good looks from?

I don’t know. I can’t really say if it was my mum or my dad. I would say it was a blend of both of them, because if my mum had been married to someone else or my dad had been married to someone else, the result would probably have been different.

We all know how intense the sun in Ghana is, yet you have remained fair in complexion. Do you have any beauty regimen?

Read More Below

I do get sun-burnt sometimes, not only in Ghana, in Nigeria as well; it depends on the location of the movie I am shooting. But I drink a lot of water and I eat in bits. That’s it.

We have heard so many rumours about you? How do you feel when you hear rumours about yourself?

Many times, I don’t bother about it, because I know it’s one of those things. Sometimes if I can counter or debunk them through my social networks, I do; but people will continue to say such stuff anyway.

How do you handle being a father, husband and an actor?

I don’t think it’s such a big deal. I lead a normal life; I just go about (performing) those roles. When I’m at home, I am at home; and when I am at work, I don’t joke with it. I do things that a normal dad would do. It’s the same with you. I don’t know if you are married, but any person who is married, works and has kids would go home after work and cater for the family. And that’s the same thing I do; there’s nothing extra-crazy about it. When I’m at home, I play with my kids when I’m supposed to.

But when you have to leave home for days and go on set, how do you make up for those times you are away?

Well, usually, when I get back, I try to spend a lot more time with them. We go to the beach or the pool, watch movies, or take a long drive; or we stay at home and play games. I try to make up for so many things.

What do people say about light-skinned guys

You know what they say; I don’t need to tell you.

I don’t know what they say. I’m also light-skinned, so tell me.

Okay, let me not say light-skinned, but the ‘half castes’. People usually say they are bad boys.

And you are not a bad boy?

No, I am not.

You got married quite young. How do you overcome temptations from your close female friends and colleagues?

Well, I mentioned earlier it’s my mindset: keep it professional. I try to be as professional as possible, and you know sometimes, you have to be in a romantic scene with an actress and still keep it professional because that is the beauty of the job. You can actually be romantic and get the viewers to understand that you are actually in love with a particular lady but at the same time, when they say ‘Cut!’ you don’t have any feelings for her.

Have you ever got attracted to any actress you have been on set with?

I don’t think so. The only one I have ever read about was when they said that I broke up Chika Ike’s marriage. I don’t see how that makes sense; but they said I helped to break her marriage.

What about your female fans? How often do they disturb you?

What do you mean by ‘disturb’?

How often do you get calls, mails and tweets from your female fans?

I wouldn’t call it disturbance; they are people who enjoy my work and want to get to know me personally. Yes, I do get calls often, but I try to adjust. I can’t keep up with all of them, so sometimes I just ignore while sometimes, I try to answer their questions and enquiries.

How does your wife handle your female fans?

She is very cool with them. She understands the nature of my job and she is totally in support of what I do. She has the same mind that I have – which is to keep it professional.

Do you have any weakness?

I find it difficult to get angry, even with respect to acting. It is quite difficult for me to get angry while acting because naturally, it takes a lot to get me angry. And when I have to get angry in a movie, it drains me. But in the past three years, I have been able to work on that

Premature ejaculation can get you down and ruin your s*x life.

Learn to delay ejaculation and last longer in bed by trying these simple tips to delay and prolong ejaculation. This will enable you and your partner to enjoy a healthy s*x life.
Kegel exercises - Kegel exercises can help you prolong ejaculation. Kegels are those muscles that you use for controlling urination. So, flex these muscles about 30 times a day to delay ejaculation.
Squeeze technique - Prolong ejaculation and delay it by holding the tip of the head of the man-hood. Squeezing the tip of the man-hood can help control premature ejaculation.
Testes - The scrotum rises as a man reaches climax and is on the verge of ejaculation. So, delay ejaculation by pulling the scrotum away from the body.
Change focus - Rather than concentrating on ejaculation, concentrate on your partner’s pleasure.
Combination of thrusts - Delay ejaculation or male climax by combining shallow thrusts with deep thrusts. This technique helps prolong ejaculation and will make you last longer in bed.
Massage the prostate gland - When you practice delaying ejaculation, the prostate gland turns sore. Hence it is important to massage the gland to prevent any kind of pain.
Perineum pressure - Delay ejaculation by applying pressure to the perineum, which is the spot between the anus and scrotum. The prostate gland expands and contracts while reaching climax or ejaculation. So, by applying pressure on this spot, one can prolong ejaculation.
Pelvic muscles - Squeeze the pubococcygeous muscle to stop ejaculating. Contract these muscles, which are used for controlling urine; doing so regularly helps you delay ejaculation.
Blueberries - This berry is known to delay ejaculation, as it relaxes the nerves in the man-hood.
Woman-on-top - This s*x position reduces your chances of premature ejaculation, thereby helping you last longer in bed. Switch to the woman-on-top s*x position to delay ejaculation.
Start and stop - When you have the urge to release, stop, pull out and then thrust again. Also, the start and stop method helps a couple to last longer in bed and enjoy the full s*xual experience.
self service - self service can help you prolong s*x, so delay ejaculation by self servicing at least an hour before intercourse.
Control your climax - Without any lubrication self service to the point of climax and stop. Do it a couple of times and then release; over a period of time you can control ejaculation.
Before engaging in intercourse, engage in foreplay – ask your partner to gently massage the man-hood along with lubrication. In time this method can help you prolong ejaculation.

Davido's 'Baby Mama' pleads To Nigerian Bloggers, "Please, Let Me Breath"

There had been various reports online that a UK based model, Sunshine Haye, was expecting twins for the OBO singer Davido, but both David and Sunshine have always been refuting the claims.

However, some few day ago, Davido mistakenly posted a screenshot of an online chat with Shanielle Haye and himself which he deleted immediately and the chats speculated hat the model might have lost the twins.
The UK model  seems to be tired of the way we (bloggers) have been hounding her life (lol) thus she reacted a few hours ago with her baby bump pics with the caption below

‘Let me LIVE, Let me BREATH!!! Everyday people wanna create more lies on me why??, I’m so sick and tired of all this bullshit .. Leave me the fuck alone !! I DO NOT have NOTHING to do with that boy so stop fucking mentioning my existence with his !!! I don’t understand why all of this is headline news, when so many people in the world are dying from chronic diseases #Sad’"

Actress Dayo Amusa’s Advice For The Ladies: "Stop Going Through Your man’s Phone!"

Actress Dayo Amusa has maintained in interviews that every man cheats. She has also admitted cheating on her ex. In other news, this her article has a history. Enjoy!
Some of us complain of problems in marriage and some are down with one sickness or the other simply because we don’t want to overlook those irrelevant things.
Why on earth should a woman carry the husband’s phone when he is in the bathroom just because she wants to catch him in his sexcapades?
Why create time just to drive around town looking for where his car is parked? Why liaise with your female friends to get him caught when some of them are after him and ready to take him from you? Na high blood pressure you wan give yourself so.
I don’t think this is necessary because even the man preaching to you and kissing his wife on national TV could have his girlfriend sitting right in front of him. You see your husband’s friend kiss his wife as they move along the road and to you, he’s the best husband on earth;he could be the chief of all sinners and your husband a saint to him.
A guy here will always use his wife’s picture as his profile picture; you won’t even get to see his own face here. But right there on his page are three of his girlfriends. This very randy guy uses that to deceive the poor woman and showers all kinds of praises on her meanwhile, one of the girlfriends on his page is a married woman. Ladies, your pastor may shower those praises on his wife with his girlfriend sitting right on the first row.
I know every woman wants to be celebrated by her man. I know we all love it when our pictures are used as his profile picture. I know we love to be hugged and kissed by him as we walk with friends. But I also know that some men are not good at it and yet they are better than some smart thieves. Just ignore those things that lead to sickness and the end of happiness in your marriage; keep loving and praying for him. With age,he will get tired and come home even if he sleeps with two daily.

Ladies, don’t go to your man’s phone. If you are number one or ten, that’s where you are in his life.Even when he doesn’t ask for it, girls are ready to send nude pictures of fake breasts and buttocks just to have him. If he loves you, they can play all the games with you but you remain the one he truly loves and adores; others are just cheap playthings. All the photos and text messages await you once you develop the itching ears. When eventually you see them, you will either take a walk or live in perpetual sadness. You see; it’s not worth it.

He Watched Me Having Doing It’: Man Reveals Reasons For Padlocking Son’s Mouth, Killing

30-year-old Chris Elvis is said to have stated that he killed little Godrich because the latter watched him while he was having sex with his wife.
The suspect, who is separated from the boy’s mother, is also said to have burnt Godrich with a hot iron and locked him up in a water filled plastic container.
The Tribune reports:

Elvis has been remanded in Ikoyi Prison in Lagos, Lagos State by an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court. He allegedly killed his son, for watching him while making love to his new wife.

The accused, who resides at No.7, Adetola Adelaja Street, Meiran, Lagos State, is facing a murder charge. The chief magistrate, S.O. Solebo, who did not take the plea of the accused, ordered him to be remanded in prison, pending a legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The prosecutor, Inspector Richard Odigie, had earlier told the court that the crime was committed on February 10 at about 5:00 p.m. at Elvis’ residence.
He told the court that the accused was not living with the mother of Godrich.
Odigie alleged that the accused beat his son to death for watching him while he was having sexual intercourse with his new wife.

“The accused beat the boy, used hot pressing iron on his body and padlocked his mouth. “ He further put the victim inside a plastic drum full of water and locked the drum with padlock. “An eyewitness reported the case at the police station, following which the accused was arrested,” Odigie told the court.

He said that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Solebo, however, adjourned the case till April 2.

"I Have Sex Everyday, It's Like a Food To Me " - Maheeda reveals

In this Interview with theNetng, Maheeda opens up on growing up ,having a baby at 17 and being an orphan.
On sex
A lot… I'm addicted to sex, and I have to have sex everyday. At least once everyday, and if there’s no guy around me, I’ll help myself by masturbating. I have a lot of sextoys; in fact, I’m a regular customer. It’s like food to me, and you have to eat. It is very healthy and it gives you the right curves and my body is used to it.
Yes! Sometimes I just squirt, like when am having sex, and because I am used to it and my body needs it.
On her recent trip to Europe
It was for business. I went for a birthday party of one big shot and all I needed to do was just sit down and cross my legs and then I got money in my account, which was pretty cool.No. I just sat down, sipped some champagne and made some money. I just went to cross my legs and made $3000.It was just an appearance. Isn’t that cool? Because they want to see that raunchy chick.
On her pregnancy
I got pregnant for my boyfriend about 13 years ago when I was just 17, in Kano. I think his family was tribalist because they didn’t want me around, so they offered me N2million, which was a lot of money back then, to leave the baby and go. I actually wanted to accept the money but I thought to myself, ‘Hey, you’re an orphan and this is the only blood you have.’ So, I left the money and decided to leave with my daughter
Because I was very hungry and I was coming from a very poor background. My mum and dad weren’t there. I was 14, living in the streets, where he met me, housed, and then I eventually got pregnant for him when I was 17. Ever since then it has been just me and, besides, I don’t want to ask anything because I know they wanted the child and not me, and I can’t afford to lose her. She’s the only thing that I have.
Growing up
I never met my dad, but I knew my mum for a while, and then she died and that’s all? I don’t even know any one of my relatives. My childhood was very lonely. I was always missing this family relationship, which I think is still affecting me till today. I don’t know what love is but I think my daughter and my man are beginning to teach me.
A very nice woman took care of me after my mum died when I was 14. Before her, there was a Muslim woman taking care of me, because my mum was always dumping me with different people whenever she was going out to hustle. Two years with one person, a year with another person. It was just like that. I didn’t have a normal life, and don’t know if I still have one. The Muslim woman taught me how to pray like them. I attended Islamic lessons and learnt the recitation.
On Marriage
When I met my husband, he said he would support my career and that is what has kept me going till date.We have been married for Two years, but we’ve been dating for about 10 years
On the Nigerian mentality
The Nigerian mentality is very low. It made me look like a fool the first time I went to Europe.

The way we see things, especially seeing sex as evil and not even talking about it even though we desire it. Some people think I’m already possessed, but that’s not it. We are not taught honour and there’s just a lot we don’t know.

Nude photos of our Apostle on Internet is blackmail — C&S Church

LAGOS—The Holy Order of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, has said the nude photo of their District Chairman, Idimu sub headquarters, Lagos State, Apostle Timothy Adewoye, which went viral recently on the Internet, was meant to blackmail the Apostle.

Senior Apostle Abimbola Esuola, who briefed newsmen in Lagos, said  the 80‑year‑old man was attacked by four men who stripped him naked, took his nude photos in the home of one of a female church member whom he went to pray for.

His attackers were said to have demanded N10 million from him and threatened to publish his nude photos on the Internet if he did not cooperate. Esuola added that the octogenarian, after pressure, paid N2.150 million to the blackmailers who kept on asking for more.  According to her, “when the pressure became unbearable, Adewoye told his secretary what he was passing through and the secretary mobilised other members of the church and reported the matter at Idimu police station. The police already had a case against a female church member identified as Sherifat Balogun. The suspects were said to have also blackmailed a prominent banker the same way.

When the detectives went to pick up the suspects, three of them, including Balogun’s husband fled. They are yet to be apprehended and only Sherifat Balogun and Makanjuola Olagunja were arrested.”

Charged to court
The police, yesterday, filed charges against  Balogun and Olagunja in suit No. MM/E/7/2014. Olagunja, 50, and Balogun, 54, both of Akowonjo area of Lagos State, are facing a six‑count charge of conspiracy, assault, threatening violence, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing. The Ejigbo magistrate’s court in Lagos State, where the case is being heard, remanded Balogun and Olagunja in prison for blackmail.
The prosecutor, ASP Nicholas Atumonye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 13, 2013 at 11, Shagari Estate, Ipaja, a suburb of Lagos State.

Atumonye said the accused conspired with others now at large to assault one Prophet Adewoye by forcefully pulling off his clothes and taking nude photographs of him. He said the accused threatened to publish the nude pictures of the prophet and unlawfully obtained N2.150 million from him to prevent the publication of the pictures. The prosecutor said the accused also threatened the life of their victim by making several phone calls demanding for money.

He said the offences contravened Sections 56, 170, 285, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Section 312 stipulates 15 years imprisonment for convicted offenders. The accused, however, denied the charges. The prosecutor objected to bail for the accused on the grounds that several members of their gang had not been arrested. The Magistrate, Mrs. M.B. Folami, adjourned the case till February 14 to consider the request of the accused for bail.

The Representative of the sensational young striker says his loyalty still remains with Nigeria and is totally committed to playing for his country of birth
Gafar Liameed, chairman of 36 Lion FC of Lagos, has said Standard Liege striker Imoh Ezekiel is geared up to wear the green and white colours of the Nigeria senior national team.

The former 36 Lion striker is one of three fresh invites on the 23-man list of coach Stephen Keshi to prosecute the March 5 international friendly against Mexico in Atlanta, USA.

Gafar, who is the representative of the 20-year-old striker in a chat with Goal, said that Ezekiel, despite increasing interest from the Belgium senior national team, still craves to play for Nigeria.

On reports that the prodigious talent is considering dumping Nigeria to play for the Red Devils, he refuted the media claims on the player’s plans to switch allegiance, hinting that the move is no longer in place.

“Imoh is ready to play for Nigeria. He might have been ached by several snubs at junior international level but with this invitation, he is ready to play for his country of birth. Those reports are speculations as he is yet to agree to play for Belgium,” Gafar told Goal.

The Standard Liege forward was quoted on the 36 Lion’s official Facebook page as saying: “Never in my life would I have thought of such a call to the Super Eagles at such a time, with great players and the achievements of the present national team. I never saw myself in the team anytime soon."

According to Gafar, “Imoh is indeed grateful to the Super Eagles’ head coach Stephen Keshi and Nigeria Football Federation for the exciting privilege and promises to give more than 110% if given a chance to play even if it is for one minute.”

“If Nigerians allowed me remove subsidy, $20billion won’t be missing” – Jonathan

During the presidential media chat on Monday, President Goodluck Jonathan insisted that if Nigerians had allowed him to remove oil subsidy, all the stories of missing money in the NNPC wouldn’t have come up.

Nigerians took to the streets in January 2012, to protest government decision to end billions of dollars in fuel subsidies that saw the price of fuel double overnight. A compromise was later reached between the striking parties and the government.
“I was involved in kerosene subsidy as Vice President to Yar’Adua. Kerosene subsidy was never removed,” he said.
“If I had been allowed to remove oil subsidy all the stories of money missing won’t be coming up.”
On Sanusi’s whistle-blowing, Jonathan said: “Sanusi said its $49billion, then $1 2billion and now $20billion, I don’t know which to believe, we must look into it, even if its $1.”

Why President Jonathan Wants My Head –– Mallam Sanusi Tells His Story

Did you know that President Goodluck Jonathan who is accusing Sanusi Lamido of acts of financial reckless is in actually fact angry because Sanusi refused to spend $2billion for gadgets for him in Aso Rock? Well, that is one of the "sins" of the CBN governor. Because he gave money, from what he has able to make through his diligent work, to some universities and bomb blast victims, the Presidency got angry.
During the tenure of Charles Soludo, the highest money CBN ever gave the federal government was N8bn but today Sanusi has given the same government over N600billion. Why didn't they ask him how he was able to make so much money in the CBN when others could not? That is the sad reality in Nigeria today.
Read Sanusi's story below as stated by Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi himself...

My story, by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
As at the time I came into office, several things had collapsed. From banks to stock exchange, they had crashed. Inflation was at 15.6percent three months before I became Central Bank Governor; there was already instability in every sector of the economy. When I look back, I thank God for the people who supported us and criticized us as well because criticism has made us stronger. Also, when I look back, I can point to several things that have changed after our arrival and till date.
Keeping inflation down
For the first time in a long while, we have been able to keep inflation at about 7percent since January 2013 and it is still like that up till this moment. As far as instability and exchange rate is concerned, we have worked tirelessly to ensure things work out well for the economy.
We also introduced cash reduction in the system. Although most people didn’t like it because they felt it will add more problem to the exchange rate because people want to buy dollars but against all odds, the cashless policy has worked and it’s still working today.
On the face-off between CBN and NNPC
I must say that we are not EFCC. What I have been talking about is the areas that affect my job which have been a dwindling in the money that comes into the Federation Account. Let me make it clear, the disputed $20billion may be gone. And what some people want is the continuity of this; that stealing of public funds should continue.

On his suspension
I must say that there was no time when the CBN received any letter from the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria. At no point were we given any letter to respond to over any financial allegations. Also, nothing in the letter declared that I did anything wrong. I can tell you that CBN does not operate the way it’s been presented because all facts and statements of account are there for everybody to see. They said we spent N1.2billion on the police – even if that is true, is that corruption? Did I set up my security outfit and pay myself? I want to repeat that I have had my last day in office. I have achieved everything I set out to achieve. Looking at the suspension letter, I was not given the benefit of doubt to respond or explain myself.

Court order
However, I have a court order now enforcing my fundamental human right because once they seize your passport, you don’t know the next step they will take. I took an expert motion to court to ensure I am not harassed.

On the allegation that he is partisan
When I was in King’s College, I was in Form 2 when Bukola Saraki came into Form 1. He has been my friend since we were 11years old. Also, El-Rufai has been my friend. I never knew I will be CBN Governor because I had wanted to study law, also Bukola Saraki never knew he would become a politician because he read medicine. These people remain my friends and, with all sincerity, every one of us has friends across political divides. These are things some Nigerians categorize and accuse me of being a politician. Also, I had known Governor Fashola and Bola Tinubu since I was in First Bank. I am a Lagos boy as well and my children were all given birth to and groomed in Lagos. When Nasir El- Rufai heard what happened, he decided to come to the Lagos airport so that if I am going to be arrested, it will be in the company of some of my friends. He never came to the airport as an APC member but as a friend. I am not a politician.

What next on NNPC
It is not my responsibility anymore but I can comment as a Nigerian. I can talk if I feel like. I believe nobody will challenge me that I did not speak out when I was supposed to as CBN Governor. If the next CBN Governor wants to pursue the missing funds matter or the National Assembly wants to go ahead, they are free of do so. Can you imagine a sitting Minister on national television saying they spent money without appropriation. In any other country, such minister has sacked herself. To me, that is not financial recklessness.

Let me simply ask, if the Nigerian Constitution says don’t spend money without appropriation or says don’t pay subsidy and the Minister went ahead to pay, is it not a problem? Technical problem is what we deal with at CBN, we deal with CRR and other issues.

In this kind of situation of investigation going on, you are supposed to either keep quiet as a wise man or walk away. But as you can see, I am not a wise man.

Donation of 100million
It is called principle of donation. During the Ikeja bomb blast explosion, the CBN Governor then, Joseph Sanusi, gave N10million. So I was not the first person to do that. This is contained under Corporate Social Responsibility. The blast in Kano did not affect Kano citizens alone, SSS offices, police stations were attacked and these are federal offices which have several people from the South working there. I can tell you that 80percent of the victims of that bomb attack are not Kano citizens, there were several Christians from the South involved and I gave N100million to their families. What is bad in that? Why are people not complaining about the N500million I compelled the Bankers Committee to give to flood victims in Benue State and other places? What is wrong in it? With CSR, you cannot do everything in all the 36states of the federation; you will do the little you can.

Mint printing!
This is one area that we have been able to cut down on spending. In 2012, CBN spent N38billion on mint printing down from the N49billion spent in 2011. In 2013, we spent N35billion and, in my 2014 budget, my plan was to spend N30billion. So we have been bringing down the cost of printing.

Under the Fiscal Responsibility Act of the CBN, we contribute 80 percent into the Federation Account. In 2008 before I became Governor, CBN contributed N8billion into the Federation Account. In my last year, CBN gave N159billion. In 2012, we gave N80billion, in 2011, we gave N60billion. In the first four years of my term as CBN Governor, we gave government about N279billion. The National Assembly called to commend me.

We have been able to give N600billion from surplus alone and the money is made from prudent finance, cutting down currency expenses, every over headline has gone down. So I can say, with all sense of humility, that the last thing anybody can accuse me of his financial recklessness.
